SUSTAINABLE

Bamboo is a rapidly renewable resource that grows many times faster than trees, uses much less water, produces up to 35 more oxygen and doesn't need pesticides or herbicides!

To make the bamboo into cloth, PATCH use the Lyocell production process, which is considered to be the most environmentally friendly method of manufacturing bamboo cloth fibre. This is because it is more sustainable than most common chemical processing methods. The compounds used in this processing method are non-toxic and much safer for humans than other commercial processing chemicals. About 99.5% of the elements used are captured in a close-loop container, which means they can then be recycled with minimal amounts of them being released into the environment, avoiding air and water pollution. Also the chemical structure of the cellulose used to make this type of fabric is not altered in the production process, which means that it retains many of its beneficial qualities.
James Dutton, Founder of Nutricare, Australia, had the idea for PATCH when his son Charlie's skin kept reacting badly to common sticking plasters, making his wounds worse. After some investigation on why this was happening, James was shocked to discover that there was an array of chemicals that lurk in many common plasters on the market. He also found that a staggering number of the world's population were unable to use plasters and this was predicted to be on rise. He became motivated to find better alternatives when he found that Charlie wasn’t alone with his reactions.

Learning that an ever-growing number of the population react or are allergic to current plasters propelled the business to where it is today. PATCH is now available in thousands of stores throughout Australia and has been growing globally since July 2016.
