This Sandwich/Food wrap is a great addition to the Keep Leaf range of reusable products. On one side it has printed cotton, and on the other a waterproof liner which helps keep the food inside fresh. Just unfold, pop in a sandwich, bagel or anything else you fancy, fold up and secure with the velcro fastenings. When you are ready to eat just unfold and enjoy. You can use it as a plate/mat if you are out and about (or would rather save on the washing up!).
This smart grey mesh design is great for men and women, and is also a favourite with understated teens.
Reusable and washable under the tap or in the washing machine. Line dry.
Free from lead, phthalates and BPA.
The factory that produces the Keep Leaf wraps is fully committed to being part of The Ethical Trading Initiative (ETI) - a ground-breaking alliance of companies, trade unions and voluntary organisations. They work in partnership to improve the lives of poor and vulnerable workers across the globe who make or grow consumer goods - everything from tea to T-shirts, from flowers to footballs. The companies committed to this initiative adopt a code of labour practice that they expect all their suppliers to work towards. Such codes address issues like wages, hours of work, health and safety and the right to join free trade unions. Keep Leaf will receive their final audit (against the ETI base code) in September 2011.
Reuse is often confused with recycling, but they are really quite different. Reuse in the broadest sense means any activity that lengthens the life of an item. Recycling, on the other hand, is the reprocessing of an item into a new raw material for use in a new product. Why is reuse so important? Because at the same time that it confronts the challenges of waste reduction, reuse also sustains a comfortable quality of life and supports a productive economy. It helps support a sustainable economy in the following ways:
* Keeps goods and materials out of the waste stream
* Preserves the 'embodied energy' that was originally used to manufacture an item
* Reduces the strain on valuable resources, such as fuel, forests and water suppliers.
* Creates less air and water pollution then making a new item or recycling.
* Results in less hazardous waste.
* Saves money in purchases and disposal costs.
Keep Leaf was founded by Jaswinder Sahl, a mother from Toronto with a passion for textiles and design. With a growing concern for our environment and a compelling desire to reduce her carbon footprint, Jas promptly began developing products that facilitate the now imperative, environmentally conscious lifestyle.
Keep Leaf is based on her belief that you do not have to compromise on quality and style to observe responsible, sustainable practices and the result is a range of speciality reusable products that are premium quality, modern, chic, easy to use and well priced. Jas knows that in order for consumers to choose reusable over the convenience of disposable, the reusable product must entice with more than just its green credentials.
Asked what makes Keep Leaf’s products unique, Jas points to the company’s playful aesthetic. “That’s what really sets Keep Leaf apart,” she said. “There is a sense of fun to it. There’s lots of colour. It’s very stylish. With our new products, we’re continuing that philosophy – to make sure that going green is not boring. That it’s fun and chic.”
