This bag of soapnut powder is produced from organic soapnuts and offers a non-polluting, compostable, natural alternative to conventional detergents. The powder is extremely versatile and can not only be used directly in the washing machine for laundry, but can also be dissolved in water as a household cleaner or made into paste as a skin cleanser or shampoo.

Soapnuts are the shells of dried soapberry fruits which contain real natural soap and, being completely free from synthetics and toxic ingredients, are excellent for ultra sensitive skins and allergy sufferers.

Soapnut powder is highly effective and gentle at the same time. It will leave your laundry fresh and clean and compared to other powder detergents, its mildness will keep colours bright, maintaining fabric structure of your clothes for longer periods. It is mild enough to be used on all fabrics at any temperature and is suitable for all washing machines especially energy efficient ones. Simply add 2 tablespoons of soapnut powder into a sock and tie securely. Place the sock in the washing machine drum with laundry and wash as directed. After the wash has finished, discard all unused soapnut powder from the sock and dispose of in a compost bin or with the green waste recycling.

To use as a mild cleanser for skin and hair, mix with water to form a paste. The paste can be used directly on the skin as a natural scrub for the face, body and scalp, to naturally cleanse and exfoliate resulting in healthier skin and hair.

Soapnuts are highly valued by the rural people of India for washing clothes and as a naturally produced shampoo for washing their hair and getting rid of dandruff. This is why some botanists have named the species as Sapindus detergens.

The soapnuts used to make this product are wildcrafted (forest-grown) and have not been planted on cleared or stripped land. These soapnuts do not contribute to deforestation in any way. Only a small percentage (under 5%) of the world's total supply of soapnuts are used.

Certified vegan by the Vegan Society.

Packaged by hand in small batches at a London workshop which is a dedicated vegan and gluten free kitchen and workspace.

Living Naturally was established in 2009 after the founders were introduced to Soapnuts as a possible solution to eczema.  They began using them in their laundry and to clean everything in the house, and when they saw the eczema getting better, they realised how amazing these ancient soapy fruits were!
