This handy eat/drink tool kit is small enough to carry wherever you go and includes everything needed for a sustainable, clean living, waste-free and plastic-free lifestyle whilst out and about or travelling.
The tool kit contains a reusable drinking straw with cleaning brush, a knife, fork and spoon cutlery set, chopsticks, and a handy spork. The contents are made entirely from certified organic bamboo and are neatly packaged in an organic cotton mesh drawstring bag.
Each utensil is responsibly made in China from a single piece of certified organic bamboo which is then hand shaped and finished with food safe certified organic oil. The bamboo used (with the exception of the straws), is called Moso. Moso is an extremely large variety of bamboo that is not eaten by pandas because of its size. The straws are made from Chinese Fountain bamboo which grows in Fujian so does not affect pandas as they live in the North, in the Chengdu region.
Hand wash in warm soapy water. Avoid soaking. Not recommended for microwave.
Certified organic by the USDA (United States Department of Agriculture).
Miracle plant bamboo is the fastest growing plant in the world, and is an endlessly renewable resource - growing new shoots from its root system after being harvested. It thrives naturally without using any pesticides or fertilizers, takes in greenhouse gasses and produces 35% more oxygen than the equivalent trees.
Made from organic bamboo. The producers only use water-based formaldehyde-free adhesives and all products are hand sanded and finished using a food-safe oil produced from vegetable oils and waxes.
Responsibly made in China where there are safe working conditions and fair labour practices. Producer Bambu is also B Corp certified which means the company’s business model and entire operations are evaluated to see how they impact their workers, community and environment. In short, B Corporation is to business what Fairtrade certification is to food.
Bambu are makers of handcrafted products for the home including bowls, boards & utensils. Their products come from nature and their ideas are inspired by the materials they work with - and crafted in a way that supports sustainable business practices.
Bambu was established in 2003 with a goal to reducing our use and reliance on plastic by providing people with beautiful, non-toxic, sustainable products made from nature.
Founders Jeff & Rachel were born in Portland, Oregon – a place that prides itself on local, homegrown and eco-friendly values, and when they relocated to China for work, (a place often criticised for its manufacturing processes), they took these values with them. They wanted to see if they could find a way of doing things differently – creating interest and excitement in sustainable materials, whilst adhering to ethical business practices.
Today bambu continue to focus on the same key values. They source materials locally, work with people who work with their hands, and produce safe and durable products that will last for years. The primary material they work with is bamboo – well known these days as an endlessly renewable resource that grows very fast without the need for pesticides or fertilisers – and they also work with other sustainable materials such as cork and organic cotton.
For bambu sustainability goes beyond the balance between what they take from the earth and what they return to it. It is central to how they conduct themselves as a business. They are committed to 3rd party certification and testing, promote fair labour practices and safe working conditions and ‘green’ their supply chain. The result – a number of accolades by leading associations and trade groups. They are a certified B Corp – a community of businesses that balance purpose and profit.
